Great for audio and video with my GoPro 3I can finally sync my ATC audio and video right on my GoPro . Cable management can be a bit of a challenge in some planes but they do sell a longer version if need to be more flexible. I mount mine center cockpit from the roof behind the front seats and then snake this cord down by the door and the up to the dash.5Works, but too short and horrible interference when charging from aircraftIt works but it is so short that it makes it unusable even in a very small aircraft. Also, charging the camera from the aircraft power produces horrible interference, something that could have been solved with a simple ferric bead. For $40 I think it should have been there.Positives: if you want your camera on the glare screen, it will work very well. Very clear sound and only records the ATC, intercom and pilot conversations.Negatives: Too short, should have been at least 3 ft. longer and horrible interference when charging from aircraft power making it necessary to spend another $30 - $40 on batteries and chargers.2the performance of this cable was excellent. Real-time and recorded audio quality was crisp and ...Initially, the performance of this cable was excellent. Real-time and recorded audio quality was crisp and clear, and while I never used the charging feature, audio functionality was flawless. Reliability suddenly changed during a night flight, when headset audio was lost on downwind while waiting for a landing clearance. A quick switch of the jack out of the splitter and directly into the plane remedied the situation; however, I was fortunate to be the only aircraft in the pattern. Thinking that the issue was a loose connection or an inadvertent disconnection, I continued use of the cable on subsequent flights. The frequency of random audio loss worsened however, and the cable now stays on the ground. For context, the cable has no kinks, bends, jacket damage, or other signs of wear. The period between purchase and failure was less than six months, and multiple bench and alternate aircraft/headset tests were run in an effort to troubleshoot. I use a Bose A20 headset that is a little over one year old, and performs flawlessly when connected directly to the aircraft. While failure of the cable is frustrating, the lack of support response from Nflight is what finally prompted this review. Based on the multiple positive reviews on this site and glowing recommendations from people I fly with, I have no doubt that my cable is simply a lemon and not representative of the product itself. That being said, I have yet to be presented with an opportunity to have the manufacturer assist with a determination.2Works great with Hero 4 BlackI purchased this cable to record my flight training. To date, I have about 10 hours of use and it has always performed perfectly. The captured audio is very clear, both radio transmissions as well as intercom. The charger port for an external battery is great and has allowed me to never have to worry about the battery in my camera.5Works for my trike as well!![UPDATE 3/19/2017] I've downgraded my review because the cable stopped working. I've owned it for over a year and during that time have used it less than a dozen times. It suddenly stopped capturing the audio during my flight recordings about 2 months ago. I keep it coiled in a container when not in use. Perhaps the coiling caused it to fail? If so that might speak to the quality of the cable materials, just a guess. Great product when it works, but failed way to fast for me.I haven't actually used the cable in flight yet, so I can't comment on how it performs during flight. But this morning I did a test and discovered that it also works in my trike (Airborne XT912) with a Microair 760 radio with internal intercom! I use Flycom helmets in my trike, and they have a single plug like the larger 1/4" plug on a GA headset. I inserted this cable the same way I do in my Cessna, plugging it into the radio and plugging the headset into it. It worked! Yay!! I was so pleased when I tested it and it worked! Previously I was recording audio in my trike by shoving a tiny mic into the headset ear cup. That worked, but badly! If you use Flycom helmets, this cable will work out of the box!2All static... unusable sound!I bought this at Christmas time to record my flights with. I guess there is a short in the cable somewhere because the static I get on the video makes it unwatchable with the sound on anyway. And yes it is the cable because the same camera/aircraft/headset combination works just fine with a friends cable (different brand). Shame it took me a few weeks to find the problem and missed the return window because I'd like to think they aren't all this bad...?1Exactly what you are looking for!Works perfectly. I used this with a Bose A20 and GoPro Hero 4 Black plugged into and Anker Astro E7 battery. With a 64GB microSD card (and a full tank of gas), this will give you hours of 4K recording with clear audio. My setup: Hero4 Black hanging upside down using a Joby GorillaPod from the grab handle above the pilot's seat in a Diamond DA-40. I've seen a few reviews comment on the length of the cord, but I didn't find there to be any issues with this at all (potentially due to the aircraft I fly in).5Great High Quality Product - Must Have For Student Pilot's That Use GoPro'sReally happy with this item, feels like a quality product that will last for a long time.I use this to record the audio to my GoPro Hero 4 Silver during my PPL lessons inside various PA-28 Piper Warriors.I mount my GoPro Hero 4 Silver to the aircraft ceiling centrally between the front pilot and co-pilot seats (near the air vents)The lead is more than long enough to reach to the rear seat headphone ports, even inside the PA-28 Piper Warriors that have the headphone ports located behind the rear seat. This lead also allows you to connect a power supply in tandem with the audio connection, I use this to connect a USB battery pack which vastly extends the battery life of the GoPro Hero 4 Silver. The audio is super clear with no interference.A must have for student pilot's that want to record audio to their GoPro's.I purchased this from the UK via the US Amazon site and product arrived within 5 working days.Highly recommended.5A bit overpriced - especially if you buy it at ...A bit overpriced - especially if you buy it at full price from their website. I'm still not sure if it is usable with the new Garmin VIRB Ultra cameras? The do not include any instructions, or schematic of the wiring of this harness - so it's very hard to verify its' usability in a preexisting circuit. I had to get out my own test meter and draw up my own schematic.3Great for flight instruction reviewI absolutely love this cable. I've only used it for a total of maybe 3 hours but the sound is crisp and clear and it is, of course, very easy to set up. I'm using it to record my training flights so that I can go back and review them. I think this really helps because there is so much going on during the lessons that you are bound to miss something. Going back and reviewing them, with full cockpit audio (intercom and tower, etc.), is very useful, in my opinion. A C172 rental in my area is around $110, an instructor is something like $45, this cable is $35~$45....it pays for itself, if you are taking lessons, almost immediately!5
