Easy and impressive Used this on a Solarius granite bathroom vanity which was allegedly sealed before installation, but was soaking up water like a sponge. Did two coats, following instructions, and water now beads on the surface (except in one spot that I somehow missed next to a faucet). Quick and easy application, easy clean-up, low odor. Good stuff! 5Bought this sealer for our brand new shower. I ... Bought this sealer for our brand new shower. I used it to seal the grout on the floor and walls, and my accent marble tiles. It's a huge shower and took me about 2 hours to do it all, because I broke the project up into small sections. The instructions say to leave the product on for roughly 15 min, not letting it dry. So I felt it was the most manageable to do it in sections rather than keep track of what may or may not have dried. I also wiped off excess before it dried onto my glass tiles etc to avoid the film residue. It *did not* turn my white grout a color which was something I worried about when choosing a sealer. Not a strong smell. No complaints. I can't tell if it's doing anything. ... just blindly trusting that it did it's job. 5this specific sealer seems to be recommended by just about every counter and stone company I've ... I've got mixed feelings about this sealer. On one hand, this specific sealer seems to be recommended by just about every counter and stone company I've encountered. On the other, my own experience with this product has been mediocre. I suppose that if you're willing to put in the added effort that is required with this product, then it may be worth it. Personally, I've used other stone sealers that seemed to work better with less effort. The DuPont instructions say you should cover the surface and to keep re-wetting it for at least 10-15 minutes. This takes a bit of close monitoring as I accidentally let some parts dry out, which left a whitish residue on the surface. No big deal, other than the fact that I had to re-wet the area and buff off the residue. When I was finally done, about 35 minutes had passed and a whitish haze developed over my counter. I then had to spend another 25 minutes buffing off the haze. I then had to allow another 24-72 hours for the finish to cure. Finally, when that was done, the finish looked great. Unfortunately, my water test when all was said and done showed that my counter still managed to absorb a bit of the liquid. DuPont instructions did say that another coat could be applied, but my arms were too sore from buffing my countertop that I just ended up using another product. There's no denying the multitude of positive reviews here on Amazon, nor the strong recommendations by professionals. But the only conclusions that I can make are:1) I applied this stuff wrong.2) I got a bad batch.3) It just doesn't work as well as I hoped.Maybe I'll try applying this stuff again sometime after going to the gym to work on my sissy arms. 3Use sponge! Applied with a paint pad as directed, but did not get enough on so it is not water resistant. Second coat with a cut up household sponger squeezing it into the grout joints. A little over-priced.Revised, 7/9/17:This product is not working on unsanded grout in my shower. It does not repel water (turns dark when wet), so I see little point in using it. Very disappointing for the cost of $27 a pint. 2Does What It Needs To Do OK, I purchased this sealer to put on my new granite counters. First of all, it is pretty darn easy to apply. But a word of warning--apply in small sections as it has to be kept wet during the 15 minute application time. I'd put some one and have to rewet over and over as it kept drying out. When it's time to buff it out, use lots of clean towels, otherwise you'll get some hazy streaking in areas. If you end up with a streak, just lightly rewet with sealer and wipe immediately. We have about 100 square feet of countertop and backsplash, so this bottle had very little leftover, so don't skimp on the product if you have less square footage. This product says it will last 3 year between applications, and after all the buffing, my arms were pretty tired so I hope I don't have to do this again anytime soon.I also liked the lack of smell. I purchased this with the deep cleaner and the daily cleaner, and they also smell ok. My wife, who is highly sensitive to smells didn't mind the smell at all. I have to disagree with one reviewer who said this made their counter so slick their cats slid on it. We haven't found it to be slick at all, and our cats have yet to slide (much to my disappointment). We did have to cover the counters with sheets for 24 hours to keep the cats off of it, otherwise it was completed in just a few hours. So far no water has been able to penetrate, but we did have a very, very slight staining that buffed out where one of the cats threw up....so I guess it's holding it's own just fine! 4Highly recommend. This product legitimately saved my counters. We recently redid our entire kitchen, and I decided that I had to have marble. We lived with the kitchen for about a month prior to sealing with this product, and EVERYTING left a mark, stain, etch, you name it. My father & husband spent a couple hours sealing with this product over the holidays, and WOW what a difference. Nothing stains! I have spilled red wine, tomato juice, steak drippings, mustard, pickle juice... Basically everything that is supposed to ruin your marble counters - nothing! Everything wipes right up. Highly recommend. 5OK Used on ceramic tile grout. I guess it works but it's very hard to get to soak into a vertical installation. Seems it would be better on a floor. 3Greatest product for stone floors This product goes on white - use a paint roller w long handle to apply. Use smooth roller. When I first us d this was worried about white substance on floor but it dries clear. It is super helpful and makes washing floor easy afterwards. Dries to shiny glow w no white anywhere. Seals stone of floor super well. I allo more time for it to dry. To make drying faster a fan helps it dry in 2 days depending on size of room. Also I apply one coat and quickly go over it with a second coat right after 1st coat applied and it dries w super results. 5Effective and easy to apply This is good stuff for white granite countertops, which are very porous because of the character of the stone. The secret to putting it on, in addition to adequate preparation, is to put it on fairly heavily--and keep stroking it so that no areas dry out. They dry out either because not enough was put on initially or it has soaked into the stone (which is the whole idea)--or because something else already has soaked into that spot.I use a wide polybrush, and a clean cottage cheese carton as brush holder and reservoir for the sealer. Watch the clock--it does need 10-15 minutes. My countertops had been sealed with a different (less effective and less pricey) DuPont product 18 months ago and I needed only one coat of this stuff, which I hope will last the claimed 3-5 years. I did put on a second coat, but it didn't appear to sink in so I suspect wasn't essential. This dries quickly and was ready to use, lightly, in 6 hours (70+ degree house with AC on). I let it cure 24 before going back to "normal" use. This might take longer in cooler or more humid conditions. One note: Nowhere does this product claim to stop water from darkening the granite if the water sits on it. No sealer will do that. But plain water will evaporate without causing a stain. What this sealer does do is prevent staining liquids from getting into the pores of the stone and taking up residence forever. Using cleaners other a granite cleaner or very mild soap and water will reduce the effectiveness of any sealer sooner. I found some great information on all this on the website of the Natural Stone Institute. 5Easier than you think to use. Works very well and very easy to use. I was a little intimated because I was using it on our marble. Don't overthink it, just remember to keep the surface wet with product for 5-10 minutes to make sure the product soaks in. I used a foam paint applicator which I felt worked perfectly. Wipe the surface with a dry soft cloth and of you re apply wait 30 mins in between. 5
