A bit expensive, but a slim case that installs easily I bought this and a tempered glass screen protector about a week after buying my 7" Kindle Fire (non-HD). I felt like I was splurging a bit, spending half the $$ on a case and screen protector as the device costs, but I think both purchases were worth it.There are a ton of cases out there for this device; I looked at a few, but this was the only one I bought and installed. This case is "tangerine" (my wife calls it loud", but if you're a Tennessee or Texas fan, you can relate to how nice an orange color can be); I find it a pretty cool shade of orange: not obnoxious, but I can find my Kindle very quickly!Easy installation; takes about five seconds. If you buy a micro SD card for your Kindle, you will need to remove the case to install the card. There's another 15 seconds total. It really is that simple-easy.I should also mention the case is very slim and doesn't add bulk to the device. A friend of mine has the same Kindle Fire and a different case; I like him, but that case is just horrid. This one is much better!I would give the case five stars if it weren't so pricy; as it is, though, I really like the case. I would recommend it, if you don't mind paying a bit more. 4This is a perfect fit and as well-designed as it can be This is a perfect fit and as well-designed as it can be. I like it better than the alternative I was considering because it can stand either in portrait or landscape mode. I couldn't understand the negative comments about the stand/hinge not working right until I watched YouTube reviews and saw that numerous reviewers couldn't figure out the very simple operation of the folding triangle flap. It's really not that complicated and works fine. The cover is held very flat when closed and when open and folded all the way back, by magnets I guess. The whole case doesn't add much bulk to the device, being a perfect fit. The Fire 7 snaps in the bottom and the cover is snug and right-sized. Also, the back of the case is non-slip, unlike the Fire itself, so that's a plus. The one single thing that is not perfect about this is that it is not comfortable to hold in one hand by the sides with the cover on. Without it, I can hold it comfortably with one hand. With the cover, because there is a sort of 'hinge' created when the cover is folded back, it's a bit of an uncomfortable stretch to hold in one hand. I can grab it, pincer style, with one hand with the case, but I prefer to hold it the way you hold a phone -- by the sides. Now that I think of it, the other slight issue is the back camera is covered when the cover is open -- don't know why they didn't drill a hole in the cover. That would leave some of the glass exposed when the cover is closed, but would have been worth it, in my opinion, or they could have had a kind of optional punchout so users could decide. But definitely a solid and well-designed case tailor made for this unit. 4Love the colors and some features, but not the flimsiness and price. I bought this tablet case knowing I have a three year old that thinks it is ok to play with mommy and daddy's things. In fact, we had a really nice large tablet before and all of a sudden the screen went "poof" and we were never able to turn it on again. So we got a new tablet and I got this really sleek tablet cover by Amazon.Things I like about this cover:I love love love the color! It's my favorite. The colors were so variant and vibrant it was awesome. I will have no trouble finding my tablet in all my dark-colored stuff ( I have a very bleak closet). I like the protection it provides my tablet. Like I said, it's really sleek and slender. The polyurethane case fits perfectly and doesn't affect any of the functions like speakers and camera, but it has one flaw with the access to the memory card, you have to take it out of the case. The cover for it is soft so it won't damage the tablet and it's magnetic so it closes efficiently.Things I don't like about this cover:I don't know how in the world Amazon got their cover to hold up the weight of the tablet like they did. Even on a hard surface like a table, I'm not able to keep it standing. We have watched a movie for the last few nights on it and the case just doesn't hold up. If I'm doing it wrong, which I'm looking at the pictures and I'm not, then I would understand why but I've watched other people try to do it and I'm reading other reviews about it and they are having the same problem as I am. Maybe the cover is too smooth? The material too flimsy? The other thing I don't like about this tablet cover: the price. I think it cost way too much for a cover of a tablet that was 60-70 dollars itself to be 25. I probably would have bought something along the lines of 15 dollars without grimacing if they hadn't looked like shady places where I was going to have to wait two weeks to be shipped cause their backordered from China. It is not like the material actually costs that much anyway maybe they had to pay their designers more?I do really like this case, just the flimsy way of how it stands and the price is a little too much. 3poor design for this case When I tried to stand the fire tablet, either horizontally or vertically, I thought I must be doing it wrong. It was loose and very unstable. I really liked the case for my first Fire 7 tablet and it was probably cheaper. I have been more then satisfied with Amazon and their suppliers for about 99% of everything I have bought, and I have purchased a lot of things from home supplies and dog treats too electronics. Their shipping is on time and packed well enough for receiving items in good condition. If I could find the first case I bought for the other Fire 7 tablet , I would replace this one 1Back to the drawing board! Perhaps it's because the artfully designed "Origami" case for the Kindle Fire HD 7" spoiled me, but I've found this case extremely disappointing. Yes, it does provide some protection for this tablet and yes, it does make the tablet's slippery surface easier to hold in one hand. On the other hand, I'm completely convinced that the product images showing the case's so-called stand holding it appropriately upright in both horizontal and vertical positions were achieved with ample applications of glue.In the first place, the grooves that should allow the stand to fold away from the rest of the case's flap are both narrower and more shallow than those of the Origami case: thus folding the flap at all is quite difficult. Secondly, the corner magnet so highly and redundantly touted by one reviewer is simply not strong enough to hold the case's cover in place while the flap is folded back and the corner with the magnet slides around, making the stand flap even less stable. Furthermore, as another reviewer has already mentioned -- but not strongly enough in my opinion -- the magnet's position eliminates the possibility of a small hole that would allow the front facing camera to be used while the case's flap is fully folded back, bringing to mind Jackie Gleason's remark about his golf game: "If I can see the ball, I can't hit it, and if I can hit it, I can't see it".This case should have been sent back to the drawing board before being released at such a high price and those of us who believed the photos of it in standing positions should be offered our money back immediately. 1Nice case I just got this case and the Fire tablet yesterday. The case is sturdy and I like how the stand works. I ordered green and the color is pretty close to as pictured. The magnetic closure is nice in keeping the case flat. I just wish it also turned the Fire on and off, just something I'll have to get used to. 4Happy with this case! A bit hard to keep the flap open for it to stand up, though. I really like the feel and fit of this case for my Fire 7 tablet. It fits perfectly, and I like the magnetic cover for it. It folds back and snaps into place easily. It is not a bulky case at all, which I really like, and it keeps the sleek aesthetic of the black tablet. I like the fact that it has the flap that bends out, so you can stand it up on a table in both orientations (horizontal or vertical). However, as some reviewers have mentioned, the level of support you get from it varies. The one I received didn't fold out far enough or have enough play in the crease for it to be completely stable and not collapse at times. The crease was a bit too 'hard', and it would force the fold back to the original position. This made it to where the viewing angle was a little too straight up and down for my taste. I would have preferred it to be angled up towards my head a bit more. I originally purchased an incorrect case, the one for the Fire 7 HD, instead of just the Fire 7. When I put my 7 into it, it didn't fit appropriately, but I was still able to set it in there and fold it out to act as a stand. That case worked perfectly, and the fold had less resistance to allow for a better angle of view. Plus, it wasn't forcing the fold back to it's original position. So, I think the experience will be different with each and every case. Some may be a little more resistant to folding out, and you may have to work with it for a while to get it to work better, and some may be ready to go off the bat.Ultimately, though, the case protects the tablet well, looks good, feels good, and does allow for using as a stand. I like it! 4My Tablet Is Wearing The Blue Cover, I Mean Coat to the Ball !!!!! All of my friends have tablets. They would tell me all the time "you should get a tablet, it, will change your life". I would nod my head and think to myself, "unless those tablet go down to $50, I won't be buying anyone's tablet". I came across an e article thatsaid that Amazon was having a special on their new Fire Tablet. The price: $50.00 - I was sold.My next step was to find a cover for my tablet. I do not believe in paying retail for anything if I can get away with it. I searchedand searched and searched, to no avail. The tablet covers I was finding did not have all the features I wanted, or they were justtoo cheap looking.I saw that Amazon was offering their Fire cover for $24.99. I must admit, this was a shock to my senses. I just could not seehanding over $25 bucks for something to cover an electronic device that I had just paid double times that amount for.I did some more research, I mean it was exhaustive. Finally, I gave in. I purchased not one but two, my sister will be needingone also.I just received this cover today and let me tell you, it is a work of art. I kid you not. I chose the blue, it is a royal blue, very pretty.I ordered the pink for my sister. It is actually a beautiful fuschia color. The case is very sleek and well made. It opens like a book. The left side easily folds to allow you to view your tablet in portrait or landscape view. The right side of the case actually holds you tablet securely. There are openings for the cameras and ports. When closed, it is about 1/2" inch in width. I am so impressed with this. The cool thing is that with the way it's made, it will last you a very long time. I consider it to be an investment purchase, along with my tablet. This cover is so worth $25. I thank Amazon for the marvelous job they did on this cover. 5Good hard case; cover opens like a book and is creased so it can serve as an easel stand. This is my second purchase of this model for protecting my trusty old 5th-generation Kindle Fire. I am giving it 5 stars but should mention that the reason I replaced the previous one (again--same case model, but different color this time) after 3 years is that the old one started to suffer plastic fatigue and cracked at the corners. I don't mistreat the Kindle and when it travels it is always in this hard case and also goes inside yet another case (a zippered, padded one) so I can't explain why the corners would have broken off, but they did. I am fully aware that if I hold on to this old Fire for another three years, I might need to replace the case again. Anyway, I was glad to find the same model still available, because I really like the feature of the book-like cover; If I open the cover just so, I can read in bed in the dark without the light from the screen disturbing my husband if he is already asleep. And the easel-stand function the cover serves is very clever and useful for watching a video on a plane or washing dishes (I can place the device in this hard case on the windowsill above the sink). 5This case is really horrible far as I am concerned I very much wanted a case for this new Kindle but found no way to install this case so it would stand up in either of the two directions it was advertised to do. This case is really horrible far as I am concerned. I have a friend who purchased a case from another source and her Kindle stand up in both directions without a problem but this case was not doing what the advertisement indicated to me that it would do. The design is first difficult to follow though I did finally followed it in detail making sure all the things on the picture look exactly the same on the Kindle I held in my hand and yet the stupid case would not stand up in any direction. Have received several items from Amazon and have been very satisfied but this one was far from what I expected and very disappointed in being able to use it as advertised. 1
