Absolute perfection for work and play The Cherry G80 is not a cheap buy even for a mechanical keyboard. However, I believe that it is absolutely worth the money at twice the price. I bought one of these keyboards about 3 years ago. As both a writer and a gamer, I find it ideal for my purposes despite the somewhat dated design. What the Cherry lacks in stylistic panache, indicator lights and function/multimedia keys it more than makes up for in performance and reliability in core typing duties such as word processing, 10-key entry, and WASD gaming. This keyboard is quite forgiving ergonomically despite its old-school design. I have somewhat sensitive wrists from a job with a bad ergo setup a few years back and this board treats them well when paired with a wrist rest (I don't use the feet, but they are nice and sturdy for those who like keyboard feet). The G80 also has the "spit and polish" lacking on cheaper boards. The cord is nice and sturdy and doesn't kink. The lettering on the keys is extremely durable; most gamers will have experienced obvious wear on the WASD array but my keys have nary a whit of fading after years of heavy use for that purpose. Even the plastic is top-notch: aside from dust, mine shows NO signs of wear and tear whatsoever. Not even the usual smoothed-out spacebar. The noise level is obviously higher than that produced by membrane keyboards and renders it somewhat "NSFW". My girlfriend has taken to calling out "clackity clack" every time she hears me typing while I'm on the phone with her. However, this is par for the course for mechanical keyboards so I feel no need to ding a star for it.All in all, I absolutely swear by my Cherry. If only I could have one at my day job too... 5An old fashion keyboard with lots of new features For people who loved the clickitty clack of the old IBM keyboards (some find it very soothing) it is perfect. Not to mention all of the modern keys added. My son, who has grown up in the computer age, starting at 7 years old, loves it. 5Five Stars where has this wonderful keyboard been all my life? One of my favorite Amazon purchases. 5Good for typing! Nice crispy sound! Just received my Cherry G80-3000 Blue Switch Keyboard, and I am writing this review right using this keyboard.I love the clicky feedback and primarily using it for daily typing and coding. I am attaching it to my ThinkPad so it will take some time for me to get use to it as a full size keyboard vs. the laptop keyboard. However, I think I am gonna typing faster with this one once I get used to it.As people suggested, this is fantastic for daily typing! Crispy sound and just the right amount of feedback that you would expect. Yes it might not be good for office or other public area, as the typing sound might be a little bit annoying for others while pretty enjoying for yourself! The key cap is very silky and feels comfortable for every touch. The letters were scribe rather than printed on it, so you it is not a smooth feeling on the surface of each cap. I think this would make it to be long-lasting.This is one of the classic mechanical keyboard, and you would not get any fancy ports or media control scrolls and are out there in other products such as the Das Keyboard. Personally I hope it could have a built in USB port, especially when you are using it with the laptop and accordingly takes up one USB port.To summarize:Pros:1. Very precise feedback. Good for typing.2. Crispy clicking sound.Cons:1. A little bit louder than the normal keyboard (non-mechanical) to be used in office, but not that much. Good for home use. 4Excellent Keyboard I use 2 Cherry G80-3000 keyboards and a Varmilo bluetooth keyboard that have Cherry MX Blue switches. I like the Cherry G80's the most with their crisp and smooth switch action. The Varmilo is crap. The snappy, crisp sound from the G80 switches make long typing sessions more enjoyable and without any hand strain. Some cheaper mechanical keyboards I have with clone MX blue keyswitches are almost the same feeling, without the crisp sound.Would buy again. 5/Almost/ a model M This is pretty close to the feel of an old IBM Model M buckling spring keyboard, but falls just short. The key action on the old model M just feels a bit smoother than this board. That being said, this still feels orders of magnitude better than the vast majority of keyboards currently available, though, so I can easily live with the slightly rougher feel. The reason I rated it as only four rather than five stars is the space key. This is where they dropped the ball. The actual switch that the space bar actuates is located off center on the long bar - it appears to be beneath the 'N' key. As a result of this and some sloppiness in the action of the space bar, it frequently misses registering space inputs if they are made with the left thumb and it strikes near the left end of the bar. It is quite annoying to need to go back through a line of text to edit and insert the missing spaces. Other than this annoyance, I find it to be a very good keyboard. 4A solid keyboard, worth the money A very solid product. I am a developer, not a gamer; I use the keyboard for typing. The MX blue switches are perfect for typing. I did replace the keys to add some color (and highlight the VI keys). 5Excellent product! This thing is awesome. This is the second keyboard I've owned with the cherry blue switches and they are the bomb; as long as you're not trying to be quiet. Don't freak by the absence of "f" and "j" bumps for finding home; instead of bumps those two keys have a greater concave across the top than the other keys. You can barely see it, but you can certainly feel it once you get accustomed. Ausgezeichnet!!! 5just simple Simple Blue switched keyboard with nothing fancy, perfect. 5In transit it looks like heavy boxes were stacked on top of the box Keyboard was shipped by Amazon Fulfillment Services and arrived in a flimsy, less than 2-1/2 in tall keyboard box. In transit it looks like heavy boxes were stacked on top of the box. Amazon needs to do better than to ship a $94 keyboard like this. Now for the product review.I've been using this Cherry G80-3000LSCEU-2 standard keyboard with blue switches for the last 4 hours and I love it! I'm a medical transcriptionist (31 years) and have been through many keyboards, looking to find a keyboard to replace my favorite clicky style from the 80's. This is really close to my old favorite! I have arthritic hands and typing has become painful and riddled with typos. I'm never 100% sure anymore that I'm hitting the keys hard enough to register a stroke. The click and rebound of the keys on this keyboard and the response of the keyboard in general is making fast typing much more enjoyable and easier for my hands, with a lot less typos. Providing the keyboard holds up for a year or two, I would buy another! 5
