Low quality amp that broke after light use within 3 months Originally really enjoyed this amp, but within 3 months it stopped working unless plugged in. Used it only while at the computer, but then it stopped working completely (just outputs muffled sound). I would beware of this amp, you get what you pay for! 1Great compact headphone amp for lower-impedance phones This is a great, compact headphone amp that recharges quickly and provides many hours of use between charges. But I needed a bit more drive for my application (250 ohm studio monitors). 4Very easy to use Put this together with my Pinnacle P1 IEH and it brought the music to life. Very easy to use. Very small and compact. No instructions on how to use the unit though. No instructions on how long to initially charge the unit. That would have been nice. I was surprised to see a small mini plug connector to connect the iPhone 5 to the A3.Love the rubber bands and the rubber bushings so I can band my iPhone 5 to the A3, but It would be best to have a shrink wrap to hold them together or velcro. The rubber bands obscure the screen. I will experiment to see if I can make a better binder. Also, the microphone button on my Pinnacle P1 does not work connected to the A3. Maybe a future upgrade will be to allow that function to work?No real complaints. Works like it says it should. Very solid construction. Easy to use.. 5FiiO A3 Sound Impressions After my FiiO A3 arrived, the sound was very harsh and thin (the lower frequencies where missing). The short 3.5 mm cable that came with the A3 was defective, as if it was 3.3 mm. Sound was only from left or right channel, if I hold it pressed in. I used another cable that worked and let it play for about 3 days. Nothing changed...harsh, brittle, bright, no bass. Yes it's louder, but unusable. Headphones used: Shure SE215, Senheiser HD598, AKG240 mkII, and others with same result. 1Homerun for Fiio! I am definitely a happy customer. Since I received my Fiio headphone amplifier, my listening pleasure has increased exponentially. I currently use it on a portable Internet radio, and on my iPhone 7+. The quality of song that comes out of this device, is extraordinary. I was especially impressed by the lower bass extension that it produces. The sound is also clean and crisp. I have become addicted to this little amplifier from Fiio. The excellent build quality, serves only to put icing on the cake for me. Easily 5stars. 5Simple and effective Works like a charm. I use it with my laptop, which doesn't power headphones very well. It's simple to use: plug it into the computer's headphone jack, plug the headphone into the FiiO. Turn the unit's volume up a little, and you're good to go. There's a "high" and "low" switch - "low" doesn't do much, so I leave it on "high".Just remember to turn it off - volume control - and the battery will run a long time. 5AMAZING WOW this little amp is amazing. It made my AKG in ears come alive and I can finally use my higher ohm rated Sennheiser headphones on smaller devices. It adds volume, clarity, widens the sound-stage and makes your music come alive! The bass boost adds power to the lows but doesn't overpower.The only issue I am having now is figuring out how to carry it and use the touch screen on my device at the same time. If you use the included straps to attach this light amd small device to the back of your phone, the straps obscure the touchscreen and make it hard to text, etc. I am looking at getting a dedicated digital audio player to free up my phone.Keep in mind that if you start with low quality headphones, you still get low quality sound. It will add volume and help a little but if you really want to enjoy your music, think about also investing in a decent set of headphones. 5Wonderful amplifier for high impedence headphones. I bought this amplifier for my Sennheiser HD598 for music and gaming and I definitely can say this was a worthwhile investment. I noticed that the sound-stage has increased. In contrast, sounds are more cramped without the amplifier. My computer's motherboard has an integrated performance sound system (improved digitally controlled dac+amp) which meant my headphones already had the full "range" in volume. Sennheiser HD598 has a moderately low impedance compared to some of the other headphones in the market (50ohm vs others reaching 300ohm), but this amount is more than general purpose headphones which can cause them to sound quiet on lower end motherboards. The analog wheel for selecting volume provides a very fine-tuned experience for listening quality. The added bass option is a nice addition as well. It provides a nice oomph to the low ends and can make my headphones shake with very minimal to no unnecessary distortion, which is sometimes more noticeable when listening to someone talk. My headphones produce a neutral tone which has not changed with this amplifier. Use of this product is fairly straight forward; however, using it outside it's intended use-case, such as having it as a semi-permanent addition to a computer, is a little tricky. When first connecting this device, I noticed that charging the device created a lot of static noise in the device. I found out after attempting multiple things, that the computer does not provide a stable enough charge resulting in interference with the feed. Charging the amplifier directly to a stable power source resolved that. Overall, this amplifier is very decent and the price tag involved makes the amp very affordable option. 5
