Customer Reviews

A good choice for lenses which don't provide for a bayonet mounted hood.Bought the FOTGA Screw Mount 52mm Standard Metal Lens Hood to try on a Canon first generation EF 50mm f/1.8 lens. These 50mm lenses were made with no provision for a bayonet mount lens hood. A collapsible rubber hood used to be attached to this lens, but it had an unfortunate propensity for slipping the threads and falling off. The FOTGA Screw Mount Hood screws directly into the filter thread and makes an attractive addition to the lens. The threaded inside of the hood serves to capture stray rays and lessen glare and flare. The original 52mm lens cap is too small to fit the threads on the open end of the hood, but a 55mm lens cap fits correctly. Installing screw-in hoods is a bit slower than bayonet mount hoods, but this is a good choice when a thread-mounted hood is the only option. 552mm lens hoodthreaded fine. very satisfied with it. 5Four StarsVery compact and Much better than the bulky fold out rubber hoods. 4Perfect for Pentax 50 mm f/1.8Surprisingly good. Bought this for my Pentax 50 mm f/1.8 lens. Based on other reviews I expected to have to remove it to put the lens cap on, but not so. Lens cap goes on easily without removing the hood. No detectable vignetting. Nothing at all to complain about. 5Well made 52mm lens hoodThis hood is a great complement to my Canon 10x42L IS binoculars. Just remember to buy two of them. The hoods fit smoothly and they shadow and protect the objective lenses. The inside of the hoods are scored, to cut the glare, as well as threaded for add on filters or other optics. My only quibble is that the 52mm identifier on the hood is a distraction, the two do not align once mounted on a binocular, so it looks a bit haphazard. I'd not miss it if it were eliminated. 5Bad productDid not fit. Cheap materials. I threw it out. 1Decent nice looking hoodWorks a expected on my 52mm Prime lens and is pretty well made, the metal is fairly thick but light obviously aluminum. The finish is very nice black matte, the inner part is grooved circular as threads to diffuse/bounce stray light I guess from going straight into the lens. The outermost part is threaded you could use for thin filters or for your cap.One thing to note you will have to probably get another lens cap when using this type of screw in hood, although my canon lens cap did sort of fit and that may be good enough for you it was just tricky to line up square but did stay in place. All the screw in lens hoods I have had are this way, some lenses this is the only option so you will have to live with it.The large end inner diameter is 55mm fine thread. 4They fit well and do a great job of preventing finger printsIt's metal with a matte finish, as advertised. I have two, which I use on my Nikon 35mm and 50mm 1.8 lenses. My main reason for purchasing was to protect the lenses. They fit well and do a great job of preventing finger prints. 5Pretty nifty metal lens shade! This is a nifty little lens shade. It's made of metal and is very durable. I bought it to replace my bent up Fuji 35mm f1.4 ring. I kind of like the way the ring gives the lens an interesting new profile look. It also matches the larger one I bought for my Fuji 23mm after losing it.One thing I'm not too fond of is that the front of the ring does not fit the same diameter for the lens cap as the back threads. the cap will still sit in it and press against the sides but it's not right and secure, very loose. 4Great value.Well made. 5
