Customer Reviews

It's too difficult to secure the portion that secures the ball head with the thumbscrew. A major design flaw. Hard to balance. It's a horrible design. It's almost impossible to secure the portion that secures the ball head with the thumbscrew. Maybe if the thumbscrew was twice as large, you could get enough leverage. I think the design is flawed, though, because it shouldn't require so much force to secure the ball head to it from moving around. It takes much too much fidgeting and adjusting to get it to work correctly compared to other similar devices I've used. 1iPhone 6 Plus Top Heavy - Does Not Balance This stabilizer will not work with the IPhone 6 plus, the phone is just to heavy and the bottom weight on the stabilizer is not heavy enough to level the phone. I was thinking about adding a weight but I decided on a heavier duty stabilizer with removable weights instead. 3I love the concept I love the concept, but it has one weak point. The ball joint on the gimbel doesn't wear well causing it to not keep tension after the unit is calibrated. Glide Gear was AWESOME to send me another one, but the fact is, it is still a design issue that honestly kills the fun out of it. When it is calibrated it works wonderfully and smoothly. Some of the best shots I have gotten, but the ball joint simply is not gripping tight enough to hold the phone in place and thus remain calibrated. So, over time, the stabilizer loses calibration. Gave 5 stars cause of the EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I look forward to trying their other offerings due to the way I was treated on the phone with them. 5My father (professional camera man) was not satisfied. This product was an amazing concept and I would have loved if it worked as a steadicam should. Setting it up is a lot more work than I feel is necessary and once it is set up it does not have enough weight on either side to be able to turn completely around it with it staying in place and having the camera point in the same direction the whole time. With this first flaw it sets up a lot more problems such as sway even when walking at a slow pace. My dad is in the film industry and is a professional camera man and when I showed him this at first he was excited but once he tried using it he became very disappointed in it. This product definitely isn't worth the time or money. I hope this review helped. 1Not as good as the videos show The company needs to be more honest about its video footage. This product does help stabilize the shots, to a degree, but not as much as their videos show. I think they are using stabilization built in to iPhone 6's coupled with their cellfie stabilizer. I could be wrong, but even after hours of fine tuning, testing on different cell phones/gopros and weights, I couldn't come close to their results. I will try my friends iPhone 6 plus to see if that does the trick, but I want it to look good with my Samsung S5.I don't know if they used any post stabilization in their videos because it doesn't say...but at any rate, it does a decent job of taking out "wiggles" but don't expect the movi, steadicam-like moves that you are seeing in the video unless you have a camera that has some stabilization on it as well, and maybe a bit of warp-stabilizer in post. Don't get me wrong, it's better than nothing, but not much better than walking around with a monopod as a stabilizer. A little disappointed. Also, the 5 star reviews from November 2014 seem fishy because they all came out around the same time (around the release of the Cellfie) and have nothing negative to say. Probably company-based reviews.****************************************UPDATE: I tried it at work on the iPhone 6 plus and sure enough, the video looks a lot more fluid and stable. Which means that the phone is doing most of the heavy lifting. I tried using the iPhone without the Cellifie and it still looked pretty darn good in terms of non-shakiness. So this product might be a nice addition for iPhone 6 users and whatever comes next, but I can't recommend it to people with phones or devices that pick up small jitters from movement. Try it out when the price comes down to $50. 3weight i used was about 52 and it's now perfect! for my LG G3 after watching and researching stabilizer for gopro, i choosed this over other brands due to its design.I was excited trying this out as soon as i received but it was very difficult to balance it and list of weight chart only has famous ones.so, i was going to return it but i tried again after watching balancing stabilizer on youtube.I needed to figure out proper weight since my gopro has case+LCD bacpac. weight i used was about 52 and it's now perfect!for my LG G3, weight is about 47I will try to upload some video later. 4Trying to be positive Quality is not up to expectations! I received the Stabilizer, planned to use it with my gopro the chart for calibration was handy but slightly off. While setting up my rig I noticed the collar around the handle bearing was broken, not a huge issue because it has no bearing on function. Once I set up the gopro and balanced it I wanted to test its true center so holding the handle at a 45 degree angle I tilted the stabilizer parallel to the ground. It fell off, my gopro fell off and no it was not improperly installed the rotating adapter that came with the stabilizer had the neck (or stem) separate from the rotating ball adapter. I have to use the rig for an event in the next few days so I will resort to using JB weld on the metal piece meaning yeah I'm going to deal with it. Despite apparently having received the unit that was made on Friday 30 minutes before the end of the work day at the Glide Gear factory the stabilizer still was fairly functional. I will say the stabilizer does a good job at reducing that annoying camera bounce and once the stabilizer is micro adjusted it provided much assistance. Sad the quality control guys must have been on some other project because for the price I paid I'm not impressed. 2I really wanted to like this... I had searched for a Stabalizer for quite some time and finally settled on this one due to the reviews and videos I saw on it. Unfortunately it didn't work half as well as I had hoped.I had seen another reviewer mention that the ball and socket at the top would fall out. I unfortunately had the same thing happen and TWICE! First time my camera fell into the kitchen sink. The second time it fell onto BRICKS!!! Not good and I was not happy. Luckily, for me, I have the GoPro Hero 2 which has a case. If it wasn't for the case I'm sure my camera would have broke. Thank GOD it didn't.The problem, I feel, is that this device is not compatible with the Hero 2. They are thicker cameras, I have an LCD back on it and the casing weighs it down as well. I think the Glide Gear was made for the Go Pro 3 and 4. I even had taken off the LCD back, put on the smaller back case to close it and I was still at the 100 mark. I was up to 105 with the LCD and bigger case on and no matter how hard I tried to adjust it it was never balanced. It was close but never completely. So I hope this review is helpful to other Hero 2 owners out there. Like I said, I really wanted to like this... in fact I was hoping to love it but it just didn't happen ; ( 2Initial balancing is tedious and time consuming but rewarding As with all non gimbal based camera stabilization systems proper balance is ultra critical. Initial balancing is tedious and time consuming but rewarding. There are some good set up tutorials on you tube. I will re emphasize, before. adjusting for swing speed (approximately 2 seconds). insure that the assembled unit (camera and stabilizer) hangs vertical. If you try to compensate for lean by extending the lower unit further, you will be creating a very annoying pendulum. After you have achieved proper balance and swing time. The next step is to learn to walk with out stomping about. :) Flying the camera take a bit of practice. If any of this seems excessively daunting, Possibly a powered gimbal unit would be a better investment. 4Best 3-axis Gopro Steadicam Ever. This product blew my mind from when I opened the box. The carrying case is top notch and the video is flawless. The cheat sheet for balancing is not the best but all measurements are close enough in order to achieve a fast and easy perfect balance. This is by far the best Steadicam I have purchased ever. I have also tried the Tiffen Steadicam Curve which broke within 10 minutes of me using it. This is a much more rugged and just an overall better product and is a must have for all GoPro owners 5
