Customer Reviews

Surprisingly good for the money!Surprisingly good for the money, especially with the dual antennas which can be positioned orthogonally for any polarization! 5This Card is Worth the Money and the WaitThis may sound a bit counter intuitive but DON'T USE THE DRIVER DISK ON WINDOWS 7. Go to Hiroinc.com and download the driver. I got the H50319 rather than the H50320 but they have the same driver so don't worry. Also after you download the driver, install the card itself, and after boot up wait a couple of minutes. If you don't see it pickup signal right away, its ok. Wait till you see the wifi signal bars in your toolbar. Last but not least, connect normally to your wifi. All that being said its a great wifi card with Awesome speeds, that is if your wifi is putting out at those speeds.I gave it a 5 star rating based on the fact that it is slim case ready and frees up a usb port (in my case i used to have a usb wifi stick). 5Add 5GHz WiFi to your desktop computerUPDATE (1/13/17): I haven't noticed this before but I am getting a lot of latency spikes. Sometimes it times out (i.e. packet loss). This is not good. Maybe it won't interrupt your casual browsing much, but it can get annoying for more constant data streaming. I am trying different channels to eliminate interference but still my router pings at 100ms or more at random times while other wireless computer next to it stays at <1ms.We moved to a new house where my desktop has to be far from the router, hence I cannot do wired network. The only possible solution was to setup a wireless access. I tried simple USB solutions like Autley 600Mbps USB Wifi Adapter, Dual Band 802.11ac USB Wireless Network Adapter Wifi USB Dongle for Windows 10/8.1/7/XP/Vista Mac OS X 10.4-10.11 and TP-Link N150 Wireless High Gain USB Adapter (TL-WN722N) which have been disconnecting, overheating, shutting down entire USB bus among other problems. These circuits need proper power and heat dissipation which is something hard to provide for the USB, which forced me to look for an internal card. This card works on the PCI-e 1x slot on your motherboard (usually the tiny slot next to your PCIe 16x). Make sure your videocard is not blocking this slot. High end videocards uses 2 slot spaces which leaves 1x slot unusable. I had to downgrade my video card so I can access my 1x slot to use this wifi card.Installation disk contains necessary drivers for most popular operating systems. Mine is Windows 10 64-bit and it works like a charm. Router is upstairs right above my office, and this card can connect with good signal quality (4/5) at 867Mbit on 5GHz band. SpeedTest.Net reports great speed with low latency. I do not have random disconnects anymore.I have never heard of this brand before, but this was the most affordable one that supports 802.11ac standard (5GHz). I am hoping it can last long enough. If you have a desktop computer with PCIe 1x slot, and needs WIFI, this is the most reliable way at the moment. 3worked kind of, software CD gave 2 PC's problems trying to load it, Win10Wouldn't install right, kept losing connection with wireless network. Tried to reinstall and wouldn't work right after that.Tried to install software from CD and would freeze up the PC's I tried to access them on. (2 different PC's just trying to get the files)Finally got them off a windows 7 PC, copied them to network drive and back down to target PC.Wouldn't work correctly.Tried a different PCI-e slot and still a no go.I wouldn't recommend this product, but maybe I just got a bad one. CD was really weird as windows 10 seem to have a hard time just loading the disc.Sent it back for a refund.I work in IT, so I know a little about what I'm doing, not a standard user. Just didn't want to deal with it, don't need the hassle, after I did some basic troubleshooting. 1Good throughput poor reliabilityHave to run the Windows troubleshooter daily because this card doesn't detect available networks. Even turning off WiFi and turning back on doesn't work. Only telephone support is available. I'm deaf. 3Don't do it. Not worth the headache.Picked up a couple of these. I could never work out all the bugs. The driver initially installed by windows 10 would only make these things work on 2.4ghz. The driver from the manufacturers website worked on both bands, but caused weird dns lookup delays of up to a minute and a half. the driver windows 10 updated to couldn't make this thing work at all. It wasn't worth the hassle, sent one back, was stuck with the other because I let 30days pass and amazon accept returns older than that. 1Works great with disk drivers only.Works well once you get the drivers installed. I had to force Windows 10 to use the drivers from the disk instead of the ones it wanted to use in order for it to be able to detect wireless networks. I also really wish it came with a normal profile plate as well as the low profile one that was installed. Normally items come with the option to do either or. 4Avoid this cardI ordered this item as part of a process of purchasing the variety of parts to build a new dektop. I assembled and began using the machine a couple of weeks ago, and the wireless card started having failures within a week of operation, finally failing completely after two weeks, forcing me to fall back on the wireless USB dongle from my previous desktop. Amazon's return window has already closed for this item, so I can't return it for a refund. There is NO reason that this card should have failed this promptly. 1Good product w/ AC band - Lack of Driver SupportThe product has lasted me well over 2 years! I purchased it because it support AC wifi. No noticeable latency - feels like I am hardwired with Ethernet! My only challenge was the driver. I tried to upgrade to the last version (good practice) and it didn't work so I had to dig and find one from several years prior. This wifi card has minimal tech support, but if you are on a budget and know a few things about computers, you can make it work. I would buy again. 4Don't waste money buying this cardI just moved into an old house with no easy way to run a cable from my Steam and Plex server to the rest of the network. I decided to give an AC wifi connection a try but unfortunately this card almost killed the idea for me. It never gave the performance it should have - I couldn't get it to hit more than 65mbs and I have 250mbs from the ISP - and additionally had huge latency spikes that killed local in-home streaming. Every two minutes there would be up to a minute of lag that literally froze everything on screen. My OSD would show huge latency spikes that were off the charts and then calm down and work fine for two more minutes.I tried many things to alleviate the problem, even going so far as to reinstall Windows but nothing helped. I almost decided to get crazy and try to run a line around a couple of doors, down through my stairwell, through the basement, into a crawlspace, and through some air intake vents into the living room. Luckily I've since changed out this card for a simple (and cheaper!) USB AC1300 adapter that works so much better. Streaming anything, even outside my house, is buttery smooth now that I've tossed this card.So I thought I'd have the best performance from a pci-e card but I was wrong. The only reason I gave it two stars was because it gave me internet but there are cheaper, easier adapters out there that will connect to the internet AND not be crap so why bother with this? I wish I could return it but it's just going into the trash. 2
