Customer Reviews

Don't ask me for a headline...Don't ask me for a headline...5Good design. Reliable. Made well.I needed a 4" hole saw for installing some recessed lights. Never bought an entire set of Milwaukee hole saws but by now I have a box of them from different projects. This 4" was as good as all the rest.Specific comments:** The online description says "imported." A few lines later it says "Made in USA." That contradiction is explained on the blister-pack, which says "Made in USA of imported materials," so it's both imported and domestic.** The hole saw pictured online differed from the one received. See pic. The geometry of the slots for extracting cut discs is different. Does it matter? No. Both geometries work fine--better than the earlier design with the single straight slot.** This hole saw is designed and rated for cutting metal. My drywall ceiling was no challenge at all--beautiful clean cuts.** Although I have a few Milwaukee arbors, I actually used this Milwaukee hole saw on a DeWalt arbor. Same threads. Same locking pattern. DEWALT DW1803 Heavy Duty 7/16-Inch Shank Quick Change Mandrel (Fits Hole Saws 1-1/4-Inch - 6-Inch)** You get just the hole saw, no arbor--which is exactly as pictured and described.** For cutting drywall I was able to mount this hole saw on a 3/8" Hitachi cordless drill. That's for drywall. For cutting anything tougher, even thin paneling, I would use a 1/2" drill. There is a lot of rotational momentum in a 4" hole saw, both when starting and stopping. Even if you don't burn out the motor of a smaller drill you could ruin the clutch just from starting and stopping.I found a small time saver that works with drywall for extracting the cut-out discs. Instead of prying them out, just cycle the drill once or twice while pointing the drill down. The drywall plugs fell out easily.Lubrication is vital when cutting metal, but unnecessary when cutting drywall. For wood, a few swipes of wax or paraffin can speed the cut and reduce heat build-up.I hope you find this review to be of some help.5the right tool for the job. Perfect for cutting hole to run dryer vent through the side of the house. 5ITS AWFUL!I'm not the first person to state this, but this is NOT the Ice Hardened Hole Saw. It's the Hole Dozer. Other people had commented this in their reviews and I stupidly did not check out the package before using it.I use a lot of hole saws and wear them out regularly. This is the worst hole saw I've ever used. I've used the Milwaukee Ice Hardened hole saw before with good results. This one is going in the trash. If I hadn't used it already I'd be returning it.The good? It will drill a hole. The bad? Everything else.Using this hole saw is like driving down the worst dirt road filled with rocks and potholes, compared to your standard hole saw which would be like driving down the freeway. My entire body vibrated using this thing. And yes it's mounted properly on my arbor and the drill. The hole saw is just awful. Rough, bumpy, creates so much chunky debris you could use it to insulate your house. It's awful. Takes about double the upper body strength to use as compared to a standard hole saw.I might be able to tolerate the difficulty in using it if it didn't create such a mess at the start of the hole. It's rough. It's awful. Have I said awful enough times? If you want a Milwaukee get the ice hardened. Don't buy this hole saw.1Five Starsworth the extra couple of $... cuts clean and easy5Had no problems it cut through my bed like butter.Uses it to cut a hole in the bed of my truck to install a gooseneck hitch. Had no problems it cut through my bed like butter.5Five Stars Cut through the back of my boat like butter! Very nice hole saw! 5Clean and aggressive cutting.Work just like all Milwaukee tools - exactly as expected5Five Stars Cut through the roof sheathing like a hot knife through butter. 5Not so goodTeeth wear down really fast for just one use for (4) 4in corn hole holes.3Five StarsGood stuff5Milwaukee 4" Ice Hardened hole sawThis Milwaukee hole saw is well built, but you will need a special arbor to use it. An 18 volt cordless drill does not have the power for this size hole saw. It took me 15 minutes to drill a single hole through a solid oak floor. Be careful of nails in the wood as they will ruin the hole saw. Rocking the saw during the cutting process helps to avoid binding and speed up the cut.5Nice qualityWorks like a charm on aluminum bed of pick up5
