Good product. Did exactly what I needed. There really isn't much to say about this item. I plugged it in and it works.I'm using 2 of these in my storage server to power 8 hard drives(4 in each row). It makes the cable management easier as I only use one power connector for all 4 drives in that row.I don't anticipate having any issues, so at this time, it is 5 stars all the way! 5What you see is what you get If you need a right angle sata connector, well, you'll get 4 of them. Even if you only wanted one.Material is comperable to any other sleeved computer cable. It's not cheap, but it's not going to be confused for a cablemod cable. Still frustrating if you only need one right angle. This is likely meant for an older multiple drive setup you'd find where a CD drive is stacked above a few hard drives. For that, this would be fine. MOLEX can support all of that in a daisy chain just fine.Does its job, and is exactly what you see in the picture. More than you can say for a lot of what's on Amazon lol. 5Poor Build Quality or Just Bad Quality Control? I ordered two of these to complete my build, which I had started before realizing I was going to need these to have some better cable management. My shipment was delayed by about 5 days. Finally, the cables arrived. All of the connectors on one of the cables look fine. On the second cable, however, the last connector has some damage to the plastic and is missing the PIN right underneath that area. So frustrating, because my build will now sit incomplete even longer as I wait for a replacement. There really isn't much to this product. I don't know the cable would have passed an inspection. 2It's a good cable There's not much to review here. It's a very simple product. It seems to be of strong quality. Bends easily, but that doesn't seem to damage the cable. Been using it in my PC build for a while and hasn't caused any issues. The distances between connectors made it a little hard to maneuver, but that's only because the cable management in my PC is very tight and specific down to the millimeter. 5Beware: Connectors are 'upside down' Connectors are rotated 180 degrees from what I, and most, would expect. If you use 90 degree SATA cables, these will end up plugging in in the opposite direction. 2Aesthetics aside, it gets the job done the right way at the right time. Came when it was supposed to arrive. Does what it needs to do. I do wish that StarTech would one day add the ability to pick/choose from a select few colors. This is the only black cable in my fully-wrapped blue modular corsair cable set-up I have going on with my PSU. Even my SATA data cables are blue.Regardless, it does what it needs to do, and that is extend from a 3.5" SATA HDD at the bottom of a Corsair 780ti case to the very top of it and plug itself into the BD-DVD+RW I have mounted in the top 5 1/4 rack. 5Well designed I bought was the four way splitter because I had a power supply in one case where one of the connectors simply wouldn't reach. I needed a simple extension, not a splitter, but this four way connector was about the same price. It turned out that right after I got it, I was building a computer and the power supply was incompatible. So I ended up using an older power supply with a single SATA power connector. I then realized the elegance of this design, since hard drive bays and optical drive bays tend to line up in most cases. That meant that rather than a bunch of loose connectors each at the end of a group of wires, I had something that went neatly down the line behind my drives and needed to plug into a single connector from the power supply. If you need a simple splitter or have drive bays in different positions throughout your case, this might not be much of an advantage, or you might end up using just the outer connections. But it's still a viable option for the price. If you need to add two or more connectors to drives that are stacked in a bay, then this is the best solution I've seen, short of replacing a power supply. But even at that, power supplies don't tend to have four connectors on the same group of wires. So if you have a RAID array and an optical drive, adding one more drive and using existing power supply connectors might prove to be a logistical problem even if the number of connectors is adequate. That makes this a very flexible solution for the price that can offer what you need and perhaps more. 4Do Not Buy for Long Term Use I bought this SATA Y splitter power cable to use two drives because of the setup I had at one point. I will say it is a tempting buy but I found that these cables are not properly terminated at the ends and will either melt, catch fire, or both in the worst case scenario. There are better terminated cables that can be had online. If in the market for a SATA Y splitter cable, check for ones that have solid terminations, like the ones on high end power supplies. 1additional power for components on the cheap i ran out of SATA power sources when trying to upgrade my computer to add an SSD for the OS. this product gave me the ability to not only add the SSD, but to also have room for other drives in the future. the price makes this product a no-brainer for expanding SATA power hookups. 5Great way to update your older power supplies I've used this power adapter in a few of my builds. This is a great option if you have limitations on your power supply and have run out of SATA connections. I had an older supply with a broken SATA clip and was able to update my server by adding this onto an existing end. I also used one in my 'home sever' that has 8 drives in it. I needed 2 more power connections. Look online to make sure your not over taxing your power supply. There are numerous sites that you can plug in what you'll be connecting to your power supply to make sure it has enough juice to safely run all your drives, cards, adapters. These little things have made it possible to use my older power supplies without updating. 5
