Functions well to extend tether to USB3.0 cables. Utilizes Genesys Logic controller. Using this (and the 16ft version) to extend tether USB3.0 based cameras. So far so good. This uses the Genesys Logic controllers vs the other common VIA controllers (info viewable in System Information on Mac). It's just an alternate, and so far, there haven't been any noticeable differences.I am testing the 32ft version without supplemental power, to which I've previously used with an alternate brand cable with the VIA controller. We'll see how it goes. All in all, better than spending $50 on orange-colored photography/camera-marketed USB3.0 cables. Will update if I have other findings. 5It works. This product is just a usb extension cable.Yes, it's long. I didn't measure, but I believe the it to be 32 feet as advertised.Yes, it works with our security camera system (Reolink NVR).It seems durable enough. 5Got this specifically for my oculus headset. Got this specifically for my oculus headset. It works great!Works with the sensors too.No extra power required but it does have a spot for a 3.5mm power plug that does provide a boost if need arise.Cable is a bit thick but thats not really a problem.Solid performance 5Great signal boosting and quality USB Cable I love not having to move my lap top all over the place at work this cord makes running Diagnostics using this cord is great I haven t had any issues with it 5Nice durable extension with no speed loss I use this for an older 1080p web cam. It s decently priced and there s no loss of speed regardless of the immense length. Good product and price for my usage. 5I have had bad experiences with stuff from China in the past and ... Ordered this Mar 7 and it was delivered Mar 24 - from China. This far exceeded my expectations. I have had bad experiences with stuff from China in the pastand have sworn not to do that again.Hooked it up to my WD external drive with an additional 7 ft of USB cable - It had no problems with thedata transfer and I believe it was at the USB2.0 speed. If this lasts then it was a perfect solution for me. 5Looses connection: DO NO BUY! I bought this so I could keep my desktop computer connected to my 3D printer on the other side of the room. However, I have trouble with the printer disconnecting in the middle of a print. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, I loose hours of time, with some prints taking 12+ hours, it can be very frustrating to loose signal 11 hours into a 12 hour print and having to start over. I never had this when I was using the standard cable so I can only assume its this extension I bought for it.So my final verdict is that it works okay with part time use, but it does occasionally loose signal with long term use.UPDATE: Now I can't stay connected to my 3D printer for more than a few minutes. I don't know whats wrong, but I can no longer use this cable and will be asking for a refund. The replacement that Amazon sent me also went bad and will no long hold a connection to my printer! DO NOT BUY! 1Great! Works exactly as it should This cable is great! It works exactly as it should. I was able to move a row of USB 3.0 hard drives off of my desk and into a closet so that I don't have to listen to them. The drives are plugged into a powered USB hub Anker 10-Port USB Data Hub with 60W Power Adapter for PC, XPS, Surface Pro, Macbook, Mac Pro / mini, and iMac, Including BC 1.2 Charging Port for iPhone 7 / 6s Plus , Galaxy Series and More, which then plugs into this cable, which plugs into my computer. I've been using this for daily for five months with zero issues. The drives run at full speed with no slow down. 5Be very careful with these! **Test these cables for a day or two mounting or routing.**1 of 4 of these cables I ordered was defective. The single defective cable within three or four minutes reached over a 146f and was rising fast it began to melt its housing. The only way I noticed this issue is when my computer did not detect one of my controllers. When I reached unplug and plug the controller back in the temperature was so hot I could feel it from a distance. If that did not happen I would have most likely been putting out a fire in my house... 3Great for shooting tethered on USB2.0 and USB3.0 Canon cameras I got this to shoot tethered from Canon 5DIII on my 2008 iMac in my home studio - the iMac isn't for editing (it's a little old and slow for that), but for shooting remotely in Live view and checking focus, it's perfect! I'd looked at Tethertools cables, and whilst I would prefer their orange cables to this black one for visibility, you can't beat the price of this cable for those of us working on a budget. I chose a USB3.0 cable, despite the fact that my Canon is only USB2.0, because I didn't want to have to repurchase it if I upgrade to a newer DSLR that has USB3.0 (this is backwards compatible and will support both standards). In my initial testing, I have had no issues. I recently assisted a pro photog who had tethertools equipment, and we kept having to disconnect and reconnect the camera from Adobe Lightroom when it lost sync, which seems to be a common occurrence. This is likely to be down to the USB port of the Macbook pro not putting out enough juice to keep the connection going, and this is where it pays to choose a cable that has a signal repeater built in. 30ft is pretty long, probably enough for most photographers shooting in the studio, and in my initial testing I had no issues with making a connection to the camera, shooting, waking it up from standby, nor in transferring images. If that changes, I will update this review. In addition to this cable, I purchased a short USB2.0 mini cable to keep permanently attached to the camera, which plugs into this cable and allows me to disconnect on the fly - you can't attach this cable directly to the camera as it is just an extension cable. In theory you can daisy chain several of these cables together to get an even longer run, but I would be concerned about voltage droop and things not working reliably unless you put a powered hub somewhere in the middle to help boost the signal. The only downside of this cable is that it's pretty stout, but that's necessary to have decent gauge wire inside the cable to help signal propagation. It takes a little gentle massaging to straighten it out, and I can hear a light crinkling when I do that which makes me think the cable could be shielded, which will help prevent interference. You will need a short jumper USB cable to connect this cable to your camera, as it only has a female connector at the camera end, allowing you to choose USB mini, micro or what have you. I chose the Cerrxian 9Inch Mini USB Cable Combo as it had both left and right hand right-angle connectors. With that ziptied (for strain relief) to my $7 MPU-105 L Bracket from a certain auction site, I'm able to connect to my studio iMac and shoot remotely with no issues. For those working on a budget, this is a much more cost effective solution than Tethertools, with initial performance looking to be on a par with those products. 5
